Rapper Kanye West appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night after the pair were involved in a row over a sketch on the chat show host’s programme.
During the civil interview the pair discussed the pressures of being a celebrity and reassured the audience that the original row was not staged.
In the contentious sketch, the Jimmy Kimmel show had children re-enact an interview which West gave to BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe after which West responded on Twitter. He has since deleted his Twitter comments.
Kimmel explained to the rapper that he had only seen a small part of the original interview and did the sketch because he finds it funny to “see kids curse”.
West spoke about his past difficulties with the tabloid press and said he got angry because he had previously been friendly with Kimmel.
He said "This is the one person I know, so I can go and let out everything that I feel about every single bogus Weekly cover. Every single bogus skit... Every person who feels it's OK to treat celebrities like zoo animals."
Kimmel responded by saying "A lot of people think you are a jerk. I often in my own personal conversations say 'No. I know this guy. He is not a jerk,' "
West said in response to Kimmel’s comment that it is weird to call yourself a creative genius was "I'm totally weird. I'm totally honest and I'm totally inappropriate sometime. For me to say I wasn't a genius – I would just be lying to you and to myself."
