Meg Ryan's close friend, writer Delia Ephron, has explained why the Harry Met Sally star ditched the Hollywood spotlight for a quieter lifestyle in New York City.
Speaking to People magazine, Delia, explained why the 51-year-old actress opted for a more subdued way of life.
She said: "Living in New York makes you different. Los Angeles is just about movies. New York is about so much more than that, and so is Meg."
Delia further explained that Meg "does her best not to be recognised."
Ephron, is the sister to the late Nora Ephron, who directed Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail, which are two of Ryan's most iconic romantic movie roles.
Meg lives with her daughter Daisy, 8, and her boyfriend of nearly three years, rocker John Mellencamp.
