Damian Lewis' actress wife Helen McCrory has revealed that she can't watch her husband in Homeland because she finds his portrayal of a tortured Iraq war veteran "too disturbing".
The 42-year-old British actor plays an American soldier who returns home after spending a number of years as a hostage in the Middle East, and Helen McCrory explained that she finds the scenes of violence and torture extremely upsetting.
Speaking on BBC’s Andrew Marr Show, Helen said: "I haven't actually seen the old Homeland because it is really distressing, and people say is that because, you know, of the love scenes and everything? But it is... not so much the love scenes, it's when he is bashed to death on the floor and urinated on by a guard.
"That is the bit I have a problem with, watching your husband doing that, however much he says it is just acting."
Helen previously played Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter movie franchise. She can currently be seen playing the part of Aunt Polly Gray in Peaky Blinders alongside Cillian Murphy.
