The sequel to fantasy blockbuster The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones has reportedly been put on hold, with a report suggesting that the film has been shut down indefinitely.

Martin Moszkowicz, executive producer of the movie franchise, said: "Pushing back the start of production of City of Ashes was a decision we did not take lightly. But after speaking with all of our partners on the creative and distribution side, it was clear that it will be beneficial to have more time to reposition the film in the current market place."

Meanwhile, TheWrap.com said that work on The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, which was scheduled to begin filming next week, has been scrapped altogether.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, starring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower and Robert Sheehan pulled in $58 million (€43 million) at the global box office on a reported budget of $60 million (€45 million) following its release last month (Aug13).
