Former Boyzone star Ronan Keating has landed a role in a big-screen adaptation of Marie Jones's acclaimed play Stones in His Pockets.

The 36-year-old will star opposite Northern Irishman Conleth Hill in the movie version of Jones's multi-award winning production.

The X Factor Australia judge will take on the part of Jake Quinn, while Game of Thrones actor Hill will reprise his original role of Charlie Conlon, which won him an Olivier Award for Best Actor in 2001.

Ronan took to his Twitter page to express his joy about featuring in the movie, writing: "Excitited to hear the news is out about "Stones in his pocket" such an honour to be cast alongside the mighty Conleth Hill and @SerIanMc"

Stones in His Pockets is set in Co Kerry where a town is suddenly overrun by a glamorous Hollywood film crew.

Keating recently featured in an Australian movie called Goddess opposite English actress Laura Michelle Kelly.
