Former Fleetwood Mac singer Christine McVie is reported to be open to rejoining the group for their upcoming tour.

McVie retired from the band in 1998 and has previously ruled out a return, but veteran BBC Radio 2 DJ Johnnie Walker suggested that she has had a change of heart.

Speaking about McVie on air, he said: "I did put the question: 'Christine, is there any likelihood you might join Fleetwood Mac on the UK shows?' She said, 'If they ask me, I'd play'."

Last year, fellow Fleetwood Mac member Stevie Nicks claimed that there was no possibility of McVie returning to a band that's almost as famous for its internal feuding as for its music.

"I would say there's no more a chance of [McVie returning] than an asteroid hitting the earth. She is done," Nicks insisted.

McVie attended a Fleetwood Mac concert in London in 2009 but has largely stayed out of the public eye since leaving the band. She has reportedly been invited to perform with her former bandmates on a number of occasions.

The group kick off the European leg of their tour on September 20 in Dublin's O2.
