The Hangover star Bradley Cooper has been confirmed to star in Guardians of the Galaxy.

The 38-year-old actor will voice machine-gun wielding character Rocket Raccoon in the superhero movie, according to Marvel Studios.

Cooper will star alongside Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana and Glenn Close in the James Gunn-directed flick.

The film centres on a jet pilot called Peter Quill who must bring together a team of aliens - among them Gamora (Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket Raccoon - to see off threats to the galaxy.
