Victor Hugo’s classic novel Les Misérables is to be adapted into a modern-day legal drama for US television.
According to Deadline, Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is revamping the 19th Century classic novel for Fox.
Thomas and writer Graham Norris will transpose the book's characters into the 21st Century, with Jean Valjean as a brilliant lawyer who defends the innocent but is still haunted by his own unjust convictions in the past.
The lawyer must not only manage his troubled romantic life but also evade a ruthless US attorney.
The musical version of Les Misérables was recently adapted into an Oscar-winning movie starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway.
