EastEnders' Scott Maslen, who plays Jack Branning, is reportedly moving to Los Angeles to pursue a film career.

Maslen (42) has already filmed his last scenes on the Square according to The Mirror, but his character will remain on the show for another five weeks.

The actor has reportedly been working out with celebrity fitness guru Jon Trevor to get in shape before the big move.

A source told The Mirror: "Scott's given his trip to Hollywood a lot of thought and feels he has nothing to lose. He's really excited about it and the potential opportunities available to him. He's got good contacts in LA and has meetings set up with people in the acting world."

They added: "He's been told he has the right look and screen presence to make it. If the tinitial trip to test the waters proves successful he will consider moving out there permanently with his family."

In February, Maslen announced he would leave Albert Square. "I've loved playing Jack – and who wouldn't want to work on one of the most successful British TV series?" he said. "But I've been offered many other roles and have just not been able to explore them in the past simply because of time and commitments to EastEnders."

He added, "Now feels like the time to tread a new path for a while."

Jack Branning arrived in Walford six years ago and has won the award for Sexiest Male at the British Soap Awards four times. He also won the award for Best Actor in 2010.
