The next instalment of the Star Wars saga is set for a December 2015 release.
Premiering Star Wars Episode VII in December will break away from the usual summer release trend the series has adhered to so far.
It is thought that Disney and Lucasfilm have moved the release to mid-December to pull away from a crowded summer 2015 which has already seen Avengers: Age of Ultron and Superman vs Batman pencilled in.
JJ Abrams is working on the script at the moment with his team of writers and it is due to start production in London early next year.
