RehabCare has invited 20 of the UK’s most popular soap stars to Sligo this coming weekend to help raise funds with a charity football match.

The organisation who work with people with disabilities in the county are joining forces with UK charity Once Upon A Smile, to raise funds to support the development of a new RehabCare resource centre for people with disabilities in Sligo.

Leading the UK team is Danny Miller, who is best known for his role as Aaron in Emmerdale. The Manchester-based actor recently took up a new role in ITV drama Scott and Bailey where is plays the part of D.S. Rob Waddington.

Also taking part are Eastenders’ Tony Discipline who plays Tyler Moon on the hit BBC soap alongsides former Eastenders star Thomas Law who played Peter Beale in the soap.

Other famous faces include: Danny Young (Coronation Street and Dancing on Ice), Anthony Quinlan (Hollyoaks), Derry Mensah and Charlie Healy from The Risk (X-factor 2011) and Danny Tennant (Hollyoaks and Emmerdale).

The soap stars are set to take on their Irish counterparts with Fair City’s Decco (Dave O’Sullivan), Sean (Ryan Andrews) and Callum (Sean Doyle) leading the way. They will be joined by Paul Walsh, the lead singer with Royseven and Stephen Byrne, presenter, RTÉ’s Two Tube and reporter on The Voice of Ireland.

The highlight of the weekend’s fundraising activities will be a charity soccer match which will take place on Sunday 25th August in Mc Sharry Park at Sligo, kicking off at 1.30pm.

Tickets are €10 per adult and €5 for U16’s (must be supervised). Last remaining family tickets (2a & 2c) are available for €25
