Actress Karen Black has passed away at the age of 74.
The Oscar-nominated star, who is best known for her roles in Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces, died on Thursday (August 8) after a long battle with cancer.
Black's husband Stephen Eckelberry posted on her Facebook page: "It is with great sadness that I have to report that my wife and best friend Karen Black has just passed away, only a few minutes ago.
"Thank you all for all your prayers and love, they meant so much to her as they did to me."
The actress was diagnosed with ampullary cancer in 2010, and this year her husband set up a fundraising page to help fund experimental treatment in Europe not covered by insurance.
Black was nominated for an Academy Award for her role alongside Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces.
