Crazy Chick singer Charlotte Church has revealed that she recently rejected the offer of a judging role on the X Factor.

The 27-year-old Welsh singer, explained that she had a meeting with producers of the popular ITV reality series, but realised she would have no creative input and "politely declined".

Taking to her Twitter page, Church said: "I got asked to do the X Factor job. I'd rather poke my eyes out with sticks than be a part of the machine that kills music."

When asked by Popjustice if she even contemplated the offer, Church replied: "I had a meeting to ask about the level of involvement in the creative process I could have, and they basically said none unless it was in line with what was required.

"I wanted to see just how hard line it was. I found my answer and politely declined."

Louis Walsh recently revealed that he would be packing in his X Factor judging duties after the tenth series.

The former Boyzone and Westlife manager has mentored the 'Groups' category five times and the 'Overs' category three times.
