RTÉ Television today launched its new season of programming across RTÉ One, RTÉ Two and RTÉjr.
IFTA award-winner Love/Hate returns for a fourth season, while Fair City enters its 25th year with a catastrophic event that has devastating consequences for Carrigstown.
There’s a new home-produced drama called Amber, which stars Eva Birthistle (Waking the Dead) and David Murray (Raw). It tells the story of a family’s desperate search for their missing teenage daughter.
Another newcomer is Quirke, a thriller starring Gabriel Byrne as a pathologist-turned-detective in 1950s’ Dublin. There are also the co-produced movie dramas What Richard Did and The Guard. Sundance-winning documentary The Summit will also be screened.
Mairead Farrell hosts a new show to find Ireland’s Fittest Family while Design Doctors offers practical tips to make the most of your home. A new medical series called Doctor on Call uses the cutting-edge technology to diagnose and treat communities.
In entertainment, Sinead Kennedy joins Marty Whelan to present Winning Streak, while other favourites including The Late Late Show, The Saturday Night Show and The Voice of Ireland will return.
On RTÉ Two, Republic of Telly duo Damo and Ivor will star in an untitled brand new comedy/drama that also stars Rik Mayall, Ruth McCabe and Norma Sheehan. Katherine Lynch is back – this time with a new sitcom called The Centre. Firm favourites The Republic of Telly, Don’t Tell the Bride and The Mario Rosenstock Show will all return.
Maia Dunphy looks at women’s issues in Maia Dunphy’s What Women Want, while the Reality Bites strand returns with eight new one-off documentaries.
International drama on RTÉ Two includes the Ireland-based series Vikings, Stephen King’s Under the Dome as well as returning favourites such as Revenge, Homeland and Mad Men.
Sport also figures heavily on RTÉ Two and includes live coverage of the GAA championships, the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifiers and the Irish rugby side’s autumn internationals.
On RTÉjr there’s the self-explanatory Meet the Orchestra, a search to find the biggest and scariest bugs in Bugs Hunters and new animation series Marco Polo.
