Kay Mellor's lottery winners drama The Syndicate is to return for a third season on BBC One.

According to Broadcast, a run of six episodes will be transmitted in 2015.

The Syndicate debuted in 2012 and focused on five supermarket workers who share a lottery win, while season two began last March and featured six hospital workers who came up with a winning set of numbers.

Season three will tell the tale of staff of a stately home who win the lottery and will be filmed on location in Yorkshire.

"I'm delighted," said Kay Mellor. "It's the first time I've been in a situation that I have a body of work ahead of me that will take me through the end of 2015."

Mellor is currently working on another BBC One drama. It's called In the Club and it explores the impact a new baby has on a modern family, following six very different couples who bond at the local Parent Craft class.

Meanwhile, a US remake of The Syndicate - called Lucky 7 - will premiere on ABC in September.
