Happy Blursday! Fresh from a nice cuppa in Dublin's Irish Film Institute yesterday afternoon, Damon Albarn and his chums in Blur take to the stage at the Irish Museum of Modern Art tonight.

The Britpop band, who rejected Britpop, play their only show in Ireland and the UK with support from Bat For Lashes and Cavan r 'n' b terriers, The Strypes.

Gates open at 16:00 and the following stage times have been announced:

17:45 – THE STRYPES
19:15 – BAT FOR LASHES
21:00 – BLUR

The reformed foursome have come a long way from their very first gig in Ireland in 1990 playing the wedding of Leo Finlay, the Irish correspondent of Music Week magazine, who was an early champion of the band.

They also supported London baggy band Flowered Up in The City Arts Centre and the following year, a deranged, speaker-climbing show in the sadly lamented McGonagles venue in Dublin.

Listen back to RTÉ Ten's Alan Corr and Tony Clayton Lea of the Irish Times discussing the enduring appeal of Blur on RTÉ Radio 1's arts show, Arena.
