It has been confirmed that Cory Monteith will be honoured with a special tribute at the upcoming Emmy Awards.

The Glee star was found dead in a hotel room earlier this month from a heroin and alcohol overdose.

Speaking to Deadline, Emmy Awards executive producer Ken Ehrlich said: "Something that reflects an homage [is in the works but] what the extent of that is, or how we're going to approach it . . . well, it's too early to tell."

He added: "If Cory had passed away in March, we’d have had four months to look at this with a little more perspective."

"The reason we’re getting all of this discussion now is because he passed away two weeks ago. But we are going to deal with it."

Ehrlich also said that a tribute to Monteith involving music that is separate from their annual "In Memorium" roll call of those who have passed away is under consideration.

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on Sunday September 22nd and will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.
