Tributes have poured in from Hollywood stars after the sudden passing of Glee star Cory Monteith.

The 31-year-old actor was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver, Canada, at around noon on Saturday after failing to check out at the appointed time.

Since the news of his death, his colleagues, friends and celebrities have shared their shock and sadness on Twitter.

His co-star Kristin Chenoweth said: "RIP CoryMontieth. You will be loved. Always."

Northern Irish actor Damian McGinty, who starred on Glee for 17 episodes, tweeted: "The guy I shot my first acting scene with. The nicest guy I've met. Can't believe it."

Modern Family star Ariel winter shared her condolences, saying: "R.I.P. Cory heart goes out to his family, friends, and fans. <3 He will be missed."

Kim Kardashian said: "Just heard about the death of Cory Monteith. So sad. Prayers 4 his family. Praying 4 Lea too! Words cant describe what they must be feeling."

The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev tweeted: "I'm gutted. Shocked and saddened to hear the news, my heart goes out to Cory's family and friends. Lets respect their space as they grieve."

New Girl's Zooey Deschanel said: "This is such sad news about @CoryMonteith - what an absolutely tragic loss of a very talented young man."

Actress Kat Dennings wrote: "I can't fully process this news. Tragic, tragic loss of a young, promising, talented man. Cory Monteith, rest in peace."
