Michael Palin has been cast in a new BBC Two drama about how British soldiers in WW1 produced and published a satirical newspaper, The Wipers Times.
The Wipers Times was named after the battlefield pronunciation of Ypres and the drama of the same named has been written by Private Eye editor Ian Hislop and Nick Newman.
Ben Chaplin, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Emilia Fox will also star.
BBC Two Controller Janice Hadlow said: "Just like the original Wipers Times, this new history drama will be filled with jokes, spoofs and amazing examples of courage behind the laughs. I am delighted to be bringing such a brilliant drama and cast to BBC Two."
This won't be the frist time that Monty Python member Palin has starred in a war spoof. Back in the seventies, he co-wrote and starred in Escape from Stalag Luft 11, an episode of the most excellent Ripping Yarns series.
