Director David Lynch has revealed that he is pessimistic about his chances of making another film.
The Twin Peaks creator has claimed that there is no room for alternative cinema in the current market.
Lynch told The Independent: "It's a very depressing picture. With alternative cinema - any sort of cinema that isn't mainstream - you're fresh out of luck in terms of getting theatre space and having people come to see it.
"Even if I had a big idea, the world is different now. Unfortunately, my ideas are not what you'd call commercial, and money really drives the boat these days.
"So I don't know what my future is. I don't have a clue what I'm going to be able to do in the world of cinema."
Lynch's most recent feature film was 2006's Inland Empire, which followed his 2001 release Mulholland Drive.
He is best known for directing Blue Velvet (1986) and Wild at Heart (1990) as well as the cult TV series Twin Peaks.
Lynch is set to release his second album, The Big Dream, on July 15.
