Paramount are working on a sequel to Brad Pitt's apocalyptic horror film World War Z.

The studio are believed to be developing a follow-up to the zombie thriller following the success of the first instalment - which took in over $118.8 million at the worldwide box office during its opening week, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore confirmed the news insisting that the studio will ''actively turn to developing a sequel.''

Moore also praised Brad Pitt, who plays Gerry Lane in the flick, adding: ''The great thing about this process was that it showed what a great partner and producer Brad is. He made a true commitment.''

World War Z is in cinemas now.
