Rock of Ages star Russell Brand has insisted that he was always faithful to Firework singer Katy Perry, even though he found marriage really "hard."
The 38-year-old funnyman explained that he never cheated on Perry, who he parted ways with in December 2011, after fourteen months of marriage.
Speaking to Esquire magazine, Brand, who divorced Perry in 2013 said: ''When I'm in a relationship I'm diligently monogamous and stick to the principles agreed on within that relationship. You've got to.
''I tried it [marriage] and I loved it. I really think she's a lovely beautiful person. It's just hard isn't it? She's got a lot of options, I've got a lot of options, so you've got to really, really want it.''
Brand further explained that it wasn't just their hectic world schedules that caused their martial breakdown, adding: ''Some of it is the fame. But I think getting married is - you've got a whole other person that you've got to make as important as you.''
Despite his failed marriage, Russell claimed that he wouldn't rule out walking down the aisle again, adding: ''I'd like to be married. I'm just not transmitting that frequency of 'Soul mate! Soul mate!' I'm transmitting the frequency of 'Mmm!' ''
