Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb is set to be honoured for his career achievements at the upcoming Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards.

The last surviving member of the group will receive the special award at the music event in June.

The 66-year-old star said that he was "honoured" at being chosen to receive the accolade.

Contact Music quote the star as saying: "Having had music play such an important role in my own life for over 50 years I can truly appreciate the work Nordoff Robbins do, using music to transform other people's lives."

The Silver Clef awards raise funds for the charity Nordoff Robbins to provide music therapy for adults and children.
