Schwarzenegger for TV bodybuilding drama

Arnold Schwarzenegger is developing a new TV drama series called Pump, which is about the bodybuilding industry.

The former Governor of California has sold the project to Showtime, and if it is picked up, he would play a recurring role in the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pump is set in 1970s' Venice Beach in California and traces the origin of the present-day fitness industry to a gym called Pump.

A pilot episode which has been written by Michael Konyvos is currently in development at cable network Showtime.

Schwarzenegger previously role to fame as a professional bodybuilder following his appearance in the 1977 film Pumping Iron.

The 65-year-old star recently returned to acting, appearing in 2012's The Expendables 2 and 2013's The Last Stand.

His upcoming projects include Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone and action thriller Sabotage.
