Coronation Street fans have been told that they should prepare for heartbreaking scenes in the soap, which will be part of a character's exit storyline.

The Daily Star says that Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) will be diagnosed with cancer.
The makers of the show have been working with cancer charities and specialists to make sure the story is handled as sensitively and accurately as possible.
A show source told the paper: "Her diagnosis may be fatal or she may well beat it but decide life is too short to stay in Weatherfield and head off on a globe-trotting adventure. It's going to be heartbreaking saying goodbye to Hayley."
The paper says that tensions will increase between Hayley and husband Roy (David Neilson) because she does not take her treatment seriously.
