The Sea, the Wexford-shot adaptation of John Banville's Man Booker Prize-winning novel, will receive its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in June.
Directed by Stephen Brown, The Sea stars Ciarán Hinds, Charlotte Rampling, Natascha McElhone, Rufus Sewell, Bonnie Wright, Sinéad Cusack, Missy Keating, Matthew Dillon and Padhraig Parkinson.
Adapted for the screen by Banville, The Sea follows Max (Hinds), a widower who returns to the place where he spent his childhood summers and is described as a "story of memory, love, loss, regret... and the persistent possibility of rebirth".
The Sea will be released in cinemas in September. The Edinburgh International Film Festival runs from June 19 to 30.
