Josh Brolin has been cast in Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice.
The Gangster Squad actor has joined the all-star cast of Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix, reports Deadline.
Inherent Vice, which is adapted from Thomas Pynchon's detective novel of the same name, is about the adventures of private eye Larry 'Doc' Sportello (Phoenix).
Brolin is thought to have been cast in a key role in the movie.
Also part of the cast are Jena Malone (Into the Wild) and Martin Short (Frankenweenie), while Sean Penn is rumoured to be joining them.
Inherent Vice is scheduled to begin filming this summer.
Brolin will next be seen in Sin in City: A Dame To Kill For, the remake of Oldboy and Jason Reitman’s Labor Day opposite Kate Winslet.
