Miriam O'Callaghan has teamed up with the Heaven Cent campaign, which aims to raise €2 million to help the sick children of Ireland.

Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and Temple Street Children’s Hospital today launched the campaign, which is asking people to do big things with their small change.

The hospitals are asking people to shake out their bags, check their pockets and rummage down the back of the sofa as literally every cent can make a difference to the lives of sick children and their families.

Commenting on Heaven Cent, O’Callaghan said: “Heaven Cent is a fantastic fundraising initiative and on behalf of RTÉ I am delighted to be supporting it. I have seen first hand the excellent care both hospitals give to their patients who come from all over Ireland.

"They need all the help they can get so I would ask everyone out there to collect their loose change, put it in a Heaven Cent bag and drop it off at one of the collection points before the end of June.”

To donate, simply start collecting up your coins, look out for the special Heaven Cent bags and once your bag is full, just drop it off at any of the nationwide collection points.

Alternatively, just pop your loose change into the drop off bins located throughout the country. To find your nearest drop off point or if you’d prefer to donate on-line visit www.heavencent.ie
