RTÉ TEN TV Picks for Today

The Zoo
The Zoo

The Donal Skehan of gardening takes over Super Garden, possibly the cutest episode of The Zoo ever and continuing the theme Paul O'Grady is back, For the Love of Dogs.

Super Garden 8.30pm, RTÉ One
Who says gardening is for the more mature of age? In tonight's episode we get to watch 22-year-old Declan McKenna transform his simple Co Monaghan garden into a, wait for it...Chinese Oasis. He may well be the Donal Skehan of gardening and he's certainly taking an original, ambitious approach to his work. He is also very determined as this is his third time to apply for Super Garden and this is defo one to watch as he is bringing a lot to the table.

The Zoo 7pm, RTÉ One
Mark it down, have the kettle on, gather the troops and tea made before 7pm. Tonight is the night where a brand new baby rhino is due to be born. After almost 16 months gestation, no doubt the new mama-to-be is also excited that the big day is finally here. Seriously, if everything goes to plan this could be the cutest episode ever. Tonight a little penguin chick is also due to take its very first swim – already think this one is going to be rewatched a lot on the RTÉ Player. Plus a new male Asian lions joins the lioness sisters - fingers crossed it all goes well.

Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs 8.30pm, UTV
Anyone who has ever watched Paul O'Grady or Lily Savage for any length of time will know just how much the presenter loves dogs. This week he's back in his local animal shelter to check up on the latest injured and upset fury residents. First through the doors are mother and daughter Staffies Bella and Missy, whose owner has fallen ill. The dogs are inseparable and it is imperative that the two are re-homed together, which is no easy task. Next up are triplets, three-month-old Mastiff pups, Una, Dots and Tresa who are going to keep everyone on their toes – can't you just see Paul with them? Well, you can tonight.
