Stars of Baz Luhrman's The Great Gatsby, Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio are firm friends since their teenage years.

They used to meet at auditions, most of which, Maguire admits, saw DiCaprio walk away with the part.

But DiCaprio would recommend his friend for roles when he began to get significant roles. 37-year old Maguire is married to jewellery designer Jennifer Meyer, whose father Ronald manages Universal Studios. They have two children, Ruby and Otis, while 38-year-old is DiCaprio single. "Our lives are very different," Maguire recently told The Guardian, while saying that both actors are really competitive people.

"I think we have a lot of confidence in our own individual paths, so whether it's with each other, or other friends of ours, we root for them. We're fans of our greatest competitors. We can joke with each other about competition, but are supportive. I have a whole bunch of friends like that. I'm glad that's the culture of my group."
