It has been confirmed the American Idol judge, Randy Jackson, is set to leave the show after 12 seasons.
Jackson was the last member of the original panel which also featured Paul Abdul and Simon Cowell.
Speaking to E! News he said "Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."
Ratings for the Fox series have continued to fall during the current series which is about to end its run. Jackson currently shares the panel with Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey with the two female panelist often clashing onscreen.
The Hollywood Reporter says there is speculation that the producers could go for an entirely new panel next season although Fox has not commented on the reports.
