Actor/director Paddy Considine has said that working on The World's End, which sees him reunite with Simon Pegg, was very difficult.

The World's End is the final movie in director Edgar Wright's Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, after Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

Considine, who played DS Andy Wainwright in Hot Fuzz, told Digital Spy about the new comedy: "It was hard - we were up against it - weather-wise, schedule-wise... it was tough.

"But we kept ourselves amused and when one [of us] was dipping, somebody else rallied round and pulled them out. We were a little gang of five against the world - well, six, including Edgar.

"It was a tough shoot, but what I've seen of it looks fantastic. Edgar's such a great talent - I love him to bits. I'm not hyping it - it does look incredible."

Speaking about Simon Pegg, who plays Nicholas Angel, he said: "I'm really excited for Simon in this film, because in the past, he's sort of played the slightly straighter guy - particularly in Hot Fuzz, the goody two-shoes.

"Whereas in this, he gets to let out his inner hooligan - he's like Vyv from The Young Ones. There's a great sensibility about this character and Simon had a lot of fun playing it - you could tell."

Considine will play Steven in the new film: "He is a bit of a straight-ish character - he goes on quite a journey actually.

"He's not the funniest guy in the world, but I had to figure out what his journey was in the film. It comes good for him, it comes alright for him in the end.

"I didn't want him to be the dislikable guy in the gang - and I don't think he is."

The World's End will be released on Friday July 19.
