Strictly Come Dancing judge, and outspoken X Factor critic, Craig Revel Horwood has tweeted that Simon Cowell has offered him an X Factor judging seat which he has accepted.

The 48-year-old dancer/choreographer had an update posted to his Twitter followers which read "Just been asked to judge @thexfactor by @simoncowell - I've said YES".

The announcement came as a huge shock to fans who tweeted in horror that the judge was set to defect from BBC's Strictly to it's ITV rival.

The announcement also confused viewers, as Horwood has been outspoken and critical of Cowell's singing competition before. In an interview with The Sun last year he said: "I could save his show easily. I know what's wrong with it and what the solution is, so it's only a phone call away for him!"

"The X Factor's biggest issue is that it's transparent - there aren't any surprises. You could easily write the script yourself, then just see it play out on television".

However, two hours later it was revealed that the tweet had been posted up as a prank. BBC Radio presenter Matt Edmondson had won control over Horwood's Twitter profile after the judge lost a game of 'pie tennis' on the radio show.

Oh you crazy guys etc . . .
