MTV has announced that is has ordered a pilot for a TV version of the movie franchise, Scream.

The TV network alongside Dimension Film are set to make an hour-long pilot for the show which it is hoping to run as a full series in 2014. The partners are in talks with original film director Wes Craven to helm the pilot. No writer has yet been attached to the project.

Craven directed all four of the films in the film franchise which starred Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. He announced last year that there would not be a fifth film.

Meanwhile MTV has also announced that there will be a third series of it reality TV Jersey Shore spin-off show Snooki & JWOWW.
