Girls actor Christopher Abbott has parted ways with the production after an alleged feud with writer and director Lena Dunham.
27 year-old Abbott plays the character of Charlie Dattolo, originally introduced as Marnie's (Alison Williams) boyfriend. Though they split in early in the first season, Abbott has consistently featured across the two seasons broadcasted so far.
It is believed that creative differences have forced Abbott to leave the show as he came to blows with Dunham over the show's direction for season three.
Filming began this week for the next season, which will air on Sky Atlantic in 2014.

Girls follows Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet), Hannah (Dunham) and Marnie (Alison Williams) as the main cast
Though the producers nor Dunham have commented on Abbott's departure, a representative for the actor released a statement which read:
"[Chris] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd (Apatow), and the entire Girls cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show."
Abbott shot to fame in 2011's Martha Marcy May Marlene and also starred in last year's Hello I Must Be Going with Blythe Danner and Melanie Lynskey.
