It has been confirmed by the BBC that Bonnie Tyler will represent the UK at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
The singer who is best known for her ballad Total Eclipse of the Heart is set to compete with a track from her forthcoming album named Believe in Me. The song is co-written by Desmond Child.
Tyler told the Daily Mail "It is an honour to represent my country and is also a wonderful way to ensure that my song Believe in Me reaches the widest possible audience.
"It is a very strong, catchy and melodic song that appeals to a wide range of people. Desmond Child partially wrote this song at the dinner table at his house in Nashville whilst we were all eating together."
Last year veteran crooner Engelbert Humperdinck represented the UK when the country came second last.
The contest takes place in Malmo in Sweden between May 14 and 18.
Ryan Dolan represents Ireland this year with his song, Only Love Survives.
