Voice of Ireland presenter Eoghan McDermott is being interviewed as Gaeilge by presenter Sinéad Ní Uallacháin on RTÉ RnaG programme Thall's Abhus this morning, talking about his life in London, and his work on the music show.

In the interview, Eoghan speaks about moving to London two years ago and how he found it difficult to settle there initially but loves it now. With neighbours Bressie and Laura Whitmore living a stone’s throw away from him, he has settled in well to life in Camden.

Eoghan has been working as a presenter on Xfm in London, but tells Sinéad in the interview that he has just left his job there to move to another station, but he is remaining tight-lipped about the details for now until contracts are signed. He talks to Sinéad about some of the stars he has met while working there.

These include his hero Justin Timberlake who was really great, although he was much less impressed by Mila Kunis who seemed to be having a bad day.

And the best experience of all was meeting Lana del Ray, and he says his best piece of radio was probably the interview he did with Lana about a year ago which went viral afterwards.

Working on The Voice of Ireland has been a brilliant experience, and he thinks that the standard of the competition is really high and has attracted a lot of singers who didn’t apply for other reality show type competitions before that.

Eoghan tells programme presenter Sinéad that Pat Byrne is like a young Bruce Springsteen, and that he will do well because he is prepared to put the hard work in.

His goal for 2013 is to get more work in TV in the UK for the next few years, after which he hopes to return to Ireland to settle down.

Presenter Ní Uallacháin said of McDermott: "I think Eoghan is a great example for young people - a talented young Irishman, proud of his culture and language, and it just shows the advantage of having Irish and English."

Thall's Abhus is presented by Sinéad Ní Ualllacháin on RnaG every Saturday morning at 10am. The show features a special celeb guest every week who come in to have a chat with Sinéad and to share their choice of music with the listeners. Listen back at www.rte.ie/rnag/thallsabhus.html.
