It has been announced that the seldom seen character of Bobby Beale in Eastenders has been recast again with the new actor set to be introduced in the coming weeks.

Alex Francis has been playing the role of Ian Beale’s son with his late wife Laura since 2007 having taken over from the previous actor. He is now bowing out in order to concentrate on his school commitments. He was last seen in the soap in autumn.

Digitalspy reports that Rory Stroud will take over the part and has already been on set filming. He will seen on television screens in March.

Executive Producer Lorraine Newman said "Alex has been a highly valued member of the EastEnders cast and we wish him the best for the future."
