On Sunday's show, The Voice of Ireland coach Jamelia was pleasantly surprised to discover that her new team member, Niamh Armstrong, is the sister of The Commitments star, Andrew Strong.

Following Armstrong's soulful rendition of I Wish I Know How It Feels to Be Free, which was made famous by Nina Simone, Jamelia said: “The reason I turned was because you chose to sing where you felt confident. I have no doubt that you can go up and you can go low and just do whatever you want to do.

"It was a solid performance and the reason why I turned so late was because I didn’t want anyone else to turn. I am so chuffed; I was looking for someone like you on my team. I’m so glad that I got you. Well done."

Speaking to the show's co-host Eoghan McDermott after her audition, a thrilled Armstrong said: “I’m just delighted. I was up there and no one was turning and all of a sudden Jamelia turned. She was actually the coach I really wanted to be with. I'm so over the moon.”

When Kathryn Thomas informed Jamelia that Armstrong's brother was the star of one of the most well-known Irish films, Jamelia was very impressed.

She said: “I know that film! No way! Oh wowzers! That's incredible! Honestly, I knew from a few bars in that this is the girl for me. I left it until the very last second so that if someone buzzed after me their chair wouldn’t turn. That’s all I was thinking.”

All of the coaches added two new members to their teams on Sunday.

Sharon added: Bob McQuaid & Mark McLoughlin

Bressie added: Kirilee McNulty & David Merriman
