Amanda Seyfried has opened up about her controversial role as Linda Lovelace in the upcoming picture about the adult film star.
"We needed to be naked a lot of points in the movie", the 27 year-old actress explained to Indiewire. "It wasn't a big deal, it's like a costume. Peter [Sarsgaard, her co-star] and I are not shy".
"I don't know why I feel comfortable," she admitted about embracing her sexuality for the role. "I don't know what happened over the years. I now have an appreciation for it, for people who don't put so much heaviness on it".
"I had a hard time letting go of Linda at the end of the movie," she said when speaking to Fox. "I had a really intense time with Peter Sarsgaard. I think we both had a hard time letting go because we went to these places".
"He played a man who consistently beat his wife. And I played a woman who was abused, psychologically and physically".
Seyfried switched tack by transforming into Cosette in Les Miserables within three weeks of wrapping her role as Lovelace.
Seyfried explains that she was happy she had another large and different part to take on when filming finished. "I could have carried Linda for a long time, and it could have been unhealthy", she added.
Lovelace premiered at Sundance Film Festival this week. It will open in US cinemas later this year.
