English actor Ben Richards has been given the all-clear following a battle with bowel cancer.

The 40 year-old actor is best known for his roles as Bruno Milligan on Footballers' Wives and as Nate Roberts in The Bill.

The actor tweeted the good news to his fans on Twitter this week, writing: "Surgeon has just come round, results all clear", followed by "Am v relieved and happy #blessed #bigCFight #winning (sic)".

Richards was diagnosed with bowel cancer in January 2012, and announced his full recovery a year to the day after being diagnosed.

Richards is currently performing in the Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5, which travels to Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy Theatre tomorrow for shows until January 27th.
