Irish acts Little Green Cars, MMOTHS, Kodaline, Villagers, Girls Names, DJ Fitz, and Adrian Crowley all went down a storm at this year's Eurosonic music festival according to RTÉ 2fm’s Dan Hegarty

Every year RTÉ sends a selection of Irish arists to the university town of Groningen in the Netherlands for the annual showcase of musical talent from across Europe.

Speaking to RTÉ TEN, Hegarty, who broadcast from the event, said: “This year’s Eurosonic festival proved to be very successful for the Irish acts that played there last week.

Little Green Cars have just released their new ep, Harper Lee, with a debut album to follow soon

“All seven acts, Little Green Cars, MMOTHS, Kodaline, Villagers, Girls Names, DJ Fitz, and Adrian Crowley, received very positive reviews.

“Eurosonic is always a goldmine for music, and this year was no exception. Some of the international acts that really impressed me were C2C, Death Hawks, Monophona, Huoratron, and Dutch Uncles.

“If Down The Road by C2C isn’t huge everywhere in 2013, there’s something wrong with the world!

“The reviews and comments about Villagers’ show at Stadsschouwburg were extremely strong. There was a genuine buzz around the release of Awayland the day of the show. One journalist said that the performance left them feeling ‘genuinely emotional’.”

Hegarty spoke to Conor O’Brien of Villagers at Eurosonic on the day that Awayland's release. click here to listen to the interview Hegarty's Eurosonic highlights are on 2XM this morning at 10am and on 2fm from 10pm tonight, January 17.
