The Spice Girls have spoken about their rocky relationships in a new documentary which will be broadcast this Christmas.

ITV are set to broadcast a special on the girl group called Viva Forever which will be broadcast on Christmas Eve. In it Sporty Spice or Melanie Chisholm has spoken about how the band nearly split up on a number of occasions before Geri Halliwell left the group in 1998.

The Daily Mail reports that Mel C said "She’d (Geri) left before but not publicly. I mean, I think a few of them had left, well, Melanie (Brown) and Geri left a few times.

"I nearly got kicked out once as well, but that’s another story.

"So yeah, I mean, it was difficult and you know, I think Geri would say these things herself. But you know she was having some personal issues and it’s no secret that her and Melanie had a very fiery relationship in the past.

"They, they are the closest of all of the band. You know, they’re absolutely in each other’s pockets or they can fight like cat and dog.”

Melanie Brown is asked about her Scary Spice alter-ego saying: "Every woman gets a little bit scary every now and again and whether they’re peed off with their boyfriend or just having one of those bad hair days, we’re all a bit scary.

"I like my name. It kind of put a barrier up because when somebody would first meet me they’d think that I were going to be horrible and actually I picked and chose whether I was going to be nice or not nice that day."

The group crashed onto the music scene in 1996 with Wannabe with Geri announcing her departure in May 1998. The group continued as a four-piece before taking a break in 2000. They later toured in 2007 with all five members.
