The producer of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy has confirmed that a follow-up to the film is in the pipeline.
Following the 2011 film, the team that adapted John le Carre’s novel for the big screen are currently working on the third novel in the series of eight featuring George Smiley, namely Smiley’s People.
Speaking to Collider, Fellner said: "We are working on another one. [Producer] Tim Bevan is putting it together as we speak with [screenwriter] Peter Straughan and [director] Tomas Alfredson, so yes it's in development.
"Tinker did unbelievably well and it didn't cost hardly anything… But things take time. Tim is passionate about making sure we do another one."
The storyline sees MI6 agent Smiley, played by Gary Oldman in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, called out of retirement to investigate the death of one of his colleagues, which leads him back to his nemesis, Soviet spy-master Karla.
