Damian Lewis has been cast in a short film for Jaguar.

The Homeland star is filming the short movie Desire in Chile's Atacama Desert, it was confirmed on Tuesday night (November 29).

Speaking at the US launch of the F-Type sports car at Paramount Studios, Lewis said: "When Jaguar approached me about the F-Type Desire film, I was really intrigued. I then got to read the script and decided it was definitely a project I wanted to be a part of.

"It promises to be an adventure. Jaguar cars have played some iconic roles in film for many years, and I'm looking forward to being the first to drive the F-Type in film".

Lewis will play a man who delivers cars for a living and runs into trouble in the middle of the desert after a chance encounter with a mysterious woman played by Shannyn Sossamon.

Colombiana actor Jordi Molla will also appear as a villain.

The film will be directed by Adam Smith and soundtracked by the Lana Del Rey song Burning Desire.

The short film will premiere in 2013.
