Liam Neeson has been cast in the new Lego film.

The Taken 2 star has signed on to the 3D animation film, which is an adaptation of the popular children's toys, which is entitled Lego: The Piece of Resistance.

Will Ferrell has also signed on to voice a character in Phil Lord and Chris Miller's adaptation.

Mad Men star Alison Brie and Nick Offerman are also involved with the project, joining Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks and Morgan Freeman, Deadline reports.

The film is about a character named Emmet (Pratt) whose ordinary life as a Lego minifigure is blown out of proportion after he is mistaken for the Master Builder - the most powerful person in the Lego world. He is then recruited by strangers who want to save it from the evil President Business (Ferrell) and his sidekick Bad Cop (Neeson).

Lego: The Piece of Resistance is aiming for a February 2014 release.
