Marcus Dent's parents will make an appearance on Coronation Street over the Christmas period, it has been announced by soap bosses.
Marcus (Charlie Condou) and his friend Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) will host Ron and Janet Dent when the pair arrive on Christmas day.
Marcus and Maria's relationship has recently been complicated by a surprise kiss.
A post on the ITV soap's official website confirms that Ron will be played by Stephen Greif. His previous credits include Blake's 7, Birds of a Feather and Tales of the Unexpected.
Marcus's mother Janet will be played by Linda Clark, who has starred in Emmerdale, Doctor Who and That Peter Kay Thing.
Ron and Janet will meet Maria for the first time on Christmas Day, and observe their openly gay son's developing relationship with the former hairdresser.
