TV presenter Johnny Ball and his professional partner Iveta Lukosiute have become the first couple to be voted off this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

When judges' scores and the public's votes were combined, the duo were placed in the dance-off with TV presenter Richard Arnold and his partner Erin Boag.

During Sunday night's results show on BBC One, viewers saw Ball and Lukosiute perform their foxtrot to Everything by Michael Bublé, while Arnold and Boag danced the cha cha to Love Shack by the B52s.

Three of the four judges decided to save Arnold and Boag.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said: "For both couples it wasn't as good the second time round. Again, for content alone, for that reason I would go for Richard and Erin."

Fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood said: "I would like to save, based on content alone, Richard and Erin."

Their new colleague Darcey Bussell said: "For me, it is about the dance content between the two dances, and who gave me the most confidence in them [as a couple], and for me that is Richard and Erin."

Commenting on his elimination, Ball said: "I think for my age [74] I did quite, quite well. I'm so disappointed I'm leaving, I really, really am."
