TV series This Is England '90 is set to begin filming early next year, actor Stephen Graham has confirmed.

Earlier this year filming was halted due to director Shane Meadows' commitments to the Stone Roses documentary.

"We're definitely gonna do [the new series] next year and my character is going to be coming out of prison, so I'm really looking forward to that," Graham said in an interview with Digital Spy.

Thirty-nine-year-old Graham, who plays Combo, explains he was apprehensive when Meadows approached him to take the big screen cult hit This Is England to TV for This Is England '86 in 2010.

"I think it was such a good film that stood up on its own," he said.

"Then when he explained it to me, what I loved about it was getting to know the other characters of the story and letting them really become a part of the whole thing."

The success of the 2010 small screen sequel led to last year's Christmas special, This Is England '88 – five years on from the events depicted in the original film.

"You're getting to see their life, their stories and everything. It's a big ensemble piece now. I'm such a big fan of the show - I guess because I wasn't in the TV series much, I watched it and thought it was fantastic!" Graham added.
