Danny DeVito and wife to separate

Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman are separating after 30 years of marriage.

The 67-year-old actor and the Cheers' star – she played barmaid Carla Tortelli - met in 1970 and tied the knot in 1982. A representative of the couple has confirmed the split to TMZ.com.

Danny and Rhea, 64, met when she went to see off-Broadway play, The Shrinking Bride, which featured DeVito.

The couple have three children - Lucy, Grace and Jacob - and founded production company Jersey Films, which was behind celluloid successes such as Pulp Fiction and Garden State.
